Title: Legal Education Takes Root in the CountrysideNews Summary
In recent years, Lǐtōng District of Wuzhong City, Ningxia, has been a pilot site for the national campaign to raise citizens’ legal awareness. Focusing on rural officials, Party members, and ordinary villagers, the district has introduced a “1 + 1 + 1” learning system that brings law classes out of the school and into fields, courtyards, and village squares. The goal is to train “legal‑savvy volunteers” who can help spread legal knowledge and settle disputes.
Since the pilot began, these volunteers have taken part in 242 legal‑education sessions and have helped resolve 415 conflicts, bringing legal knowledge into everyday life.
Lǐtōng District is also strengthening legal education for young people. It has instituted a “vice‑principal for legal affairs” system in schools and created popular programs such as “Big Hands Holding Little Hands” and the “Little Poplar Studio.” By organizing volunteer groups under a “1 + 12 + 4 + N” framework, more than 3,000 outreach activities have been carried out. Legal‑education corners have been set up in parks and public squares, and online columns and live broadcasts have been launched. These efforts are linked with campaigns for ethnic unity and cultural renewal, helping grassroots governance and a civilised community spirit reinforce one another. Several of these practices have been recognized at both the regional (Ningxia) and national levels.
Reflection and Insight
Putting legal education into daily life turns fairness, honesty, and mutual help into visible habits. As the ancient saying reminds us, “Treat others with equality and respect, and the harmony of the community and its grassroots governance will endure.” May more villages pass down both the rule of law and simple, wholesome living standards, so that public order and good customs become evident even in the smallest actions.
Scripture
Matthew 7:12 – “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.”
