### English Translation
Title: The Ecological Return of Luhua Bay
News Summary
In early spring, the town of Guìdé in Qinghai Province transformed a former “stink ditch” that once choked with polluted water into a thriving wetland along the Yellow River. Today the area serves as a public “ecological living room.” A wooden boardwalk winds through dense reeds and sweet‑flag, and more than twenty species of water birds—including gray cranes, egrets, and red‑billed ducks—regularly stop to rest. Residents and visitors come here to relax, bird‑watch, and learn about wetlands.
Since 2019, Guìdé County has invested 36 million yuan in water‑pollution control and ecological restoration, building both subsurface‑flow and surface‑flow wetland zones that give wastewater a second round of natural cleaning. In 2023 an additional 10 million yuan was added to upgrade the system. The treatment plant now purifies nearly 10,000 tonnes of water each day, keeping the river water quality at Class II or better and steadily strengthening the restored ecosystem.
Thoughts and Inspiration
The story of Luhua Bay reminds us that caring for the place God gave us requires patient planning, long‑term stewardship, and the participation of the whole community. Restoration does not happen overnight; it is the result of many small, consistent efforts and ongoing care.
This echoes Scripture’s basic warning that the earth belongs to God and needs our watchful, kind guardianship. May we practice a little more saving, a little more cleanliness, a little more love and teaching in our daily lives, so more such beautiful places can be created and preserved.
Scripture
Psalm 24:1 – “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
